OGRKK

Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu: All of the Training. None of the Politics.

The Okinawan Goju Ryu Kenkyu Kai was founded to create a home for dedicated martial artists who want to train and preserve traditional karate, absent of the politics, egos, and high costs that are too common elsewhere. We are a family of practitioners focused on growth, respect, and the authentic teachings of Okinawan Goju Ryu.

A Politics-Free Organization

Our organization is built on mutual respect. Information flows freely, instructors are never humiliated, and every member has a voice. We are “void of meetings, power struggles, egos, and politics.”

Transparent & Affordable Fees

We believe training should be accessible. Our annual three-day Gasshuku costs only $100, and we maintain very reasonable grading fees, focusing on practice over profit.

Authentic Okinawan Lineage

Our lineage is directly tied to the founder of Goju Ryu, Miyagi Chojun Sensei. We are dedicated to practicing, teaching, and perpetuating traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate and Kobudo.

The purpose of our organization is to practice, teach, and perpetuate the historical, technical, philosophical, and social implications of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Do.

Our lineage is directly tied to the Founder of Goju Ryu, Miyagi Chojun Sensei; via Miyazato Ei’ichi Sensei (first generation student), Matsumura Jin’an Sensei (first generation student 1930-1936), and Higaonna Morio Sensei (second generation student). The OGRKK name and patch are Trademarked and the OGRKK is an LLC.

Our goals are to train in the ancient combat arts of Okinawa, to apply those skill sets and methods to modern day self-defense, improved physical fitness, and improved health.

Today, many people and organizations teach a watered-down version of a style, because they have not learned the complete style.  This often results in students practicing kata (forms) in a robotic fashion and learning bunkai (applications – breaking down and dissecting the kata) in ways that are not practical or applicable to real life self-defense.  We train, teach, and preserve the Koryu (old ways) of Okinawan karate as they were taught in the beginning in personal one on one instruction, or small group detailed instruction, from teacher to student. In this way, details can be taught and practiced, which is not possible in large group training.

Group training builds spirit, steel sharpens steel, and individual personal training is where the most details and knowledge can be transmitted.

We currently have Shibu (member) dojo in California, Colorado, Washington, Oklahoma, and Illinois.  We are accepting applications for new members in others states and would like to hear from you if you are interested in becoming a member or member dojo. If you enjoy traditional, practical, and applicable training in a professional, positive, and personal environment; absent of politics, egos, and high cost, you should contact us. Our organization isn’t about trying to become large or to make money, it is about training and preserving traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate.

To learn more about the organization and how to join, please look around our webpage. We are an organization that focuses on training and people. We do not tell members who they can and can’t train with. We do not tell members how to run their dojo. Every instructor is permitted to train privately or in small groups, free of charge, at Honbu Dojo in an effort to constantly improve their knowledge.  We offer traditional training and certification in Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate and Kobudo. If you would like to escape politics, high training fees, and high grading fees, please consider joining us.  We are a tight group of people who love training, sharing knowledge, preserving the art that has been shared with us, and having fun together.
